Who: Dom Born
What: VS Maloo ute
Where: Street Commodores No. 15
Why: Dom's Maloo may look, from all appearances, pretty standard, but the amount of work absorbed into the red two-door is impressive to say the least. What makes the ute so special is that it looks factory. The supercharged VT 220i motor capable of putting 291kW (almost 400hp) through the tyres (!!) and massive AP racing brakes are just part of the story. The entire interior has been rebuilt and rewired to Statesman/Caprice specifications, with as much detail going into the little things (such as speed variable wipers) as there is in the more obvious areas. One very quick Commodore.
Notable mentions:
Around four hundred kilowatts ...and rising!
VT HSV engine transplant
Four piston AP Racing/DBA brakes
Grange/Statesman interior and appointments Fastidious attention to detail
Almost entirely built and modified by the owner
